The
renovation of this neglected studio proved to be a great challenge, mainly
because of the owner’s special request to reuse the old furnishing as part of
preserving family memories.
Two
small rooms are united to create a spacious bedroom and the two miniscule WCs
form a single narrow bathroom in which, through the existing skylights, ample
natural light fills the space.
Overall,
a clear, clean and earthy toned look
emerges by simple gestures. Semi polished microcement mortar is applied on the
floors and partly on bathroom wall surfaces. The dominant white colour of the
walls and ceiling, creates an interesting contrast with dark wooden furniture.
Vertical PVC blinds and double surface shading systems are used in order to
control the natural light and glare.
