Studio

Profile
In 1976 Freddy Barault, descendant to Francois-Louis Bareaud famous French landscape designer, establishes in Athens the design studio specializing in interior design as well as in exhibition design, a field previously unknown to the Greek market. Since 2001, Louis Barault leads the practice and expands its scope and design skills by including services such as architectural design, urban design and project management. The expertise to provide fully innovative architectural services combined with the enthusiasm and drive of the staff to discover new design possibilities, are consolidated into a vast range of diverse and challenging projects both nationally and overseas. The practice is staffed by architects, designers and engineers whose expertise spans from concept design to construction supervision and turn-key projects. The last 10 years the studio has been involved in over 200 projects while the client list includes, among others, large multinational companies, prominent Greek firms and prestigious foundations as well as private clients. The studio constantly expands its design expertise by engaging into works generating from several market sectors. Providing innovative design solutions to every project regardless of scale, budget and context is our primary goal.
By trespassing the traditional boundaries of architecture and by integrating several disciplines to the design process, such as history, sociology, graphic design etc. we aim and pursue the delivery of projects characterized by progressive design and impeccable construction detailing. We avoid the categorization under a specific style or movement and we strive to eliminate any mindsets concerning the design process. Even though internal mechanisms and processes are tools integrated into every project the uniqueness of each client, topography or context is depicted on the final outcome. We design for all scales, all sectors and all budgets. Our people-centered design approach begins by the extensive research and accumulation of huge amounts of data concerning the social, philosophical, technological and budgetary aspects of the project. This provides the context and the framework for the main concept which is being presented and discussed at the very early stages. Clients, users and specialists interact to this highly participatory method. The design process goes back and forth and is deployed towards several directions before grasping the concept of the project. We think, sketch, model and design on different scales at the same time in order to generate and deliver projects embedded into the contemporary urban context.
